Ang kantang Karma Chameleon ay kasama sa Culture Club album na "Color By Numbers" na inilabas noong 1983. Naging malaking hit itong kantang to noong 1984, at tatlong linggo itong nasa #1 spot ng U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Talaga namang patok din itong kantang ito sa Pilipinas noong 1984, at nagkaroon ng maraming Culture Club singing contests sa mga sikat na noontime shows, na kung saan nagbibihis ang mga contestants para kamukha nila ang lead singer na si Boy George. Naging uso ang pagsuot ng sumbrero ala Boy George noong panahong iyon, at marami rin ang nagsuot ng mga oversized t-shirts na lagi niyang suot sa iba niyang mga music videos.
