Cowboy X Animated Segment Sesame Street Video

Nostalgia Manila is proud to present: The Sesame Street Lunchbox! Featuring video clips of all your favorite scenes from the original Sesame Street series.

Sesame Street played a big role in educating the younger generation during the '70s. Many agree that the original series was far more imaginative and educational compared to the one you see today. This is for everyone who grew up with the original Sesame Street. Enjoy!

Cowboy X Animated Segment
"In the early of the west the peaceful town of Sniddler's Gultch was threatened by one of the meanest desperadoes of all time, Cowboy X! A man who left his mark everywhere!"

Nostalgia Manila experiences Google Page Rank drop! Boo Google!

For the longest time, this blog used to be a PR 5. It took a lot of hard work to provide everyone with the best postings about all things fun and nostalgic.

A few months ago, every site and blog and pretty much anything that's online, experienced the first big Page Rank drop, and Nostalgia Manila was down to a PR 3. Today Nostalgia Fanatics, Google has done it again, and this blog has been reduced to a PR ZERO! Nice work Google!

In spite of all this PR dropping nonsense, I'd really like to thank ALL OF YOU! Thanks to all you Nostalgia Fanatics who keep this site strong, despite of what seems like silly corporate espionage. LOL! Capitalism at it's best!

Thanks so much for your continued support! "Tuloy and ligaya dito sa Nostalgia Manila!"

Always,

Culture Club - Mistake No. 3 80's Music Video

Culture Club - Mistake No. 3
"You can't bystand all the people, stand them on their own. They will fall to pieces, so we watch them grow."

Memories Of An 80's Childhood (Part 1) By: Citizen J.D.C.

By Citizen J.D.C.

There are some times when I am alone with my thoughts doing nothing, procrastinating or just engaging in my confined soliloquy, or read some books for the nth time, or snoozing; but besides all that I mentioned, there's this one pastime that I would consider my most favorite; going on a trip back memory lane. Being a nostalgic fool that I am, going for a sentimental journey has become my hobby. A trip where I don't have to be physically out of my house. Where my time machine is my recollection about the past and my experiences that comes with them. Where all it takes is to hop in and go with the spiral and spin, spin, and spin around, and around, and around, and around....

"Pagmulat ng mata, langit nakatawa sa Batibot" Ahh, how could I forget that song. And the place. The neighborhood every kids my age wished they lived. Where they can play with the childish, hulking Pong Pagong and the gravel-voiced Kiko Matsing. Where they can listen to Kuya Bodjie's stories. Where they can learn their abc's... or in this case, a-ba-ka-da from Ate Siena. And the puppets: the siblings Ningning and Ginging, Irma and Tikyo, the bickering aliens Sitsiritsit and Alibangbang and other crop of characters whose names I can't recall anymore. All in all, Batibot is perhaps the fondest memory every 80's kid like me has in our respective childhood. And don't forget, Batibot is shown twice a day, everyday; the morning run is aired over channel 9, the afternoon run is aired over PTV 4. Weekend kiddie variety shows means either Uncle Bob's Lucky 7 Club, Pen Pen De Sarapen or Star Smile Factory.

Cartoons. There were lots of that on TV then than now. Especially during weekday afternoons. When ABS-CBN resumed broadcasting after the EDSA revolution it showed robot cartoons every, if I'm not mistaken, 4:00 o' clock in the afternoon. The daily roster is as follows: Monday, Mekanda Robot; Tuesday, (damn I forgot!)... but that is my most favorte among all (I know that it involves computers, that is the clue); Wednesday, Daimos; Thursday, Voltes V. Friday, on the other hand, is for the live-action super sentai Bioman. That was also the time when there are cartoons being shown on primetime. Bet that you could remember watching The Real Ghostbusters every seven o' clock in the evening on channel 2

Weekend Saturday mornings mean Saturday Fun Machine on channel 9, not to mention the adventures of the Superfriends which is light and campy in demeanor compared to the edgy approach of the recent Justice League. Other Saturday staples include channel 7's M.A.S.K and Spiral Zone and channel 2's Pole Position and Visionaries. Channel 13, which was the dominant station of the time, had Looney Tunes, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Denver the last Dinosaur, Widget among others. When primetime comes the fun didn't stopped, rest assured that I have my fill of the Thundercats and Silver Hawks on channel 7.

To be continued...

Grace Varona Photo '70s

Time is frozen in a single frame of film. Every bit of detail is perfectly captured by the camera lens. These photos take us back to those wonderful days when everything seemed so fresh and new, those days we wished would last forever. Relive those special moments in your life, and share your memories with Photo Nostalgia!

I just turned one in the picture. I wasn't a very eager solid food eater so they usually gave me frosted flakes to munch on so i could at least get some nutrients in my body.

Park at Baguio City. Since there were no malls back then, nature land was our favorite playground. My family and I would be there every weekend. The kids in the photo are my brothers and sister- Golda, Grant and Gerry. I'm the smaller girl with the white jacket.

Again my brothers and sister- Glenn, Golda and Grant. I'm the one in red. All three of them had a piano recital at the St. Louis auditorium in Baguio.

Many thanks to our good friend Grace Varona, who was kind enough to share with us these wonderful photos.

Send your old photos and memories to: nostalgiamanilamail[at]yahoo[dot]com, write "Photo Nostalgia" on the subject line, and we'll feature it here on Photo Nostalgia.

Name: Grace Varona
Blog: http://causticthoughts-gracemags.blogspot.com

1. Where did you grow up, and what made that place special?
I was born in Baguio City and lived there for ten years. What I remember most about the place was the constant rain and waking up from underneath comfortably thick sheets only to be told the joyful news that classes had been cancelled yet again.

Seriously, I loved every inch of Baguio . I couldn’t explain how my days there were both downcast and cheery, how it was both cold and warm and how I was both deeply joyful and melancholic. The place brought out great depth of thought and feeling in me at such an early age.

2. What was your favorite tv show, cartoon, or children's show growing up? What did you like about these shows that made them your favorite?
I loved He-Man, Shera, G.I. Joe, Transformers, McGyver, A-Team, Star Trek, Mission Impossible and many others. I suppose it just felt great watching stories that revolved around good guys winning and not around today’s regular T.V. fare— sex, drama and violence.

3. Favorite music group or artist? Most memorable song?
I seem to remember liking John Denver. One of my all time favorites was his version of "Puff the Magic Dragon." For the last time, the song isn’t about smoking weed!

4. Share with our readers one of your fondest memories of growing up.
My fondest memory was taking off every non-rainy day into the hills and woods beyond the stream that ran behind our house. There is simply nothing like immersing yourself in the breathtaking bosom of nature. My parents probably saved a fortune on toys. I liked my natural playground better than sitting at tea with Barbie.

5. What do you miss from back then that's not available today?
I miss the absence of malls. I miss pure unadulterated nature that was once just within a stone's throw away from me.
