Nostalgia List #17

Kakalabas pa lang ng tv commercial ng BigBang (black & dark brown wrapper), Cloud 9 (brown wrapper), at All Stars (yellow wrapper) chocolates. Pumunta ka sa sari-sari store para tikman ito, pero nakapagtataka kung bakit ang All Stars ang laging wala o mabilis maubos. Kaya naman puro BigBang at Cloud 9 na lang ang binibili mo. Minsan mo lang natikman ang All Stars at bigla na lang nawala at hindi na binebenta kahit saan mo pa hanapin.

Elpo hi-cut rubber shoes: Chuck Taylor style na gawa sa canvas, na itim ang signature color. Favored by action stars like then mayor Joseph (Erap) Estrada.

Mariwasa: Motorcycle distributor ng Honda na may showroom katapat ng Magnolia Plant sa Aurora Boulevard. Owned by the Coseteng family.

Masarap at mura ang mga bakery goodies ng Up-to-Date Bakery (mid '60s), was around during pre-underpass Cubao, corner Aurora Boulevard and Edsa, katapat ng Mercury Drugstore. Malapit sa sakayan ng jeep na papuntang N. Domingo.

Pag sumasakay ka ng bus gaya ng pulang JD Transit, may sasakay na inspector na chechekin ang mga ticket ng mga pasahero. Sinusulat niya ang mga numero ng mga ticket sa kanyang mahabang listahan na maayos na nakatiklop sa bulsa ng kanyang matinding naka-almirol na uniporme.

Another thing that was super popular back in the 80s were Swatch watches, anyone remember those? Colorful watches made of plastic that was made in Switzerland! I still have the Swatch that my mom gave me in 1985 for my 17th birthday, it has a blue face with a yellow case and red and green straps. I still have it today and the best thing is, it still works! My mom said it cost about $25 back then, but now Swatch watches cost $60 and up!

There was an "All Star" brand? Man! Big bang and Cloud 9 lang alam ko ... I missed out big time!

hahaha.. very true ito! Bakit nga kaya hindi mashadong nilabas un All Star.. Dati rin puro Bigbang at Cloud 9 ang nabibili ko.. masarap ma naman un All Star!
