I remember the first time I listened to a Sony Walkman back in the early 80s, I was floored by the awesome sound coming from such tiny little headphones. The first walkmen came with a demo tape with all kinds of music and sound effects. And it was heavy too! Unlike today's portable devices, which are made mostly of plastic, the first walkmen were made of metal and internally it had relatively big transistors and diodes etc.

May I add to the list: There was a brand of electric fan called Osborn and the pitch man was the late Bert "Tawa" Marcelo in his Bruce Springsteen-esque "Osborn of the Philippines" (sung to the chorus of "Born in the USA")
