The Lone Ranger Cartoon Opening Video

There was nothing like watching your favorite cartoons on a rainy afternoon after school, or waking up early to catch Saturday morning cartoons. Relive the best of '60s, '70s, and '80s cartoons with Cartoon TV Rama!

The Lone Ranger (1978)

The Lone Ranger animated series ran from 1966 to 1968. The show lasted thirty episodes (invariably split into three separate shorts, with the middle segment being a solo adventure for Tonto, so that there were 90 installments in total). The Lone Ranger was featured, along with Zorro and Tarzan in "Adventure Hour" cartoon shorts in the early 1980s, produced by Filmation. These episodes featured William Conrad as the voice of the Masked Man, though he was listed in the credits as "J. Darnoc" (Conrad spelled backwards). Conrad starred in the original radio version of Gunsmoke as Marshal Matt Dillon and was the announcer/narrator for the cartoon escapades of Rocky & Bullwinkle. This time he had 14 episodes, split into two adventures at a time, for a total of 28 stories.

Huwag Pamarisan: BILIBID BOYS

Sa unang panonood pa lamang ng Bilibid Boys (Regal Films, 1981), madali nang malaman ang pakay at hangad ng ganitong uri ng pelikula. Payak lamang ang nais itumbok ng Bilibid Boys at siyempre pa bukod sa walang patumanggang bakbakan, suntukan, habulan at patayan, hinaluan din ito ng kung anu-anong sangkap tulad ng iyakan, sigawan, konting seks at pagpapatawa upang ikasiya ng manonood nito. At bakit nga hindi kung pakakaisiping ang tinatalakay ng pelikula ay kasaysayan ng mga kabataang naligaw ng landas dala ng panggrupong impluwensiya. Sa bandang ito, naiiba ang pelikula dahil walang iisang protagonista, hati-hati ang maraming tauhan sa daloy ng naratibo na pinag-isa ng tema. Dahil payak lamang ang nais ipahatid at aliw ang pangunahing layon nito, pinalabas ng pelikula na isang simpleng di pagkakaunawaan lamang sa pagitan nina Don (Jimi Melendez) at Arnold (Allan Valenzuela) ang naging puno't dulo ng kaguluhang kinsangkutan ng mga kaibigan nitong sina Andong (Al Tantay), Noel (Mark Gil), Steve (Alfie Anido), Butch (Gabby Concepcion), Luga (William Martinez) at Caloy (Choy Acuna). Pinalabas ng pelikula ang salimuot ng karanasang pinagdaanan ng mga kabataang ito sa loob ng bilangguan. Ang hindi tinlakay sa Bilibid Boys ay ang ilang mahahalagang bagay ukol sa kalagayang panlipunang higit ang kinalaman sa mga isyung inihain ng pelikula.

Tunay, binibigyang atensiyon ng Bilibid Boys ang mga kabataan kahit sa pana-panahon lamang. Pagsunod lamang ito sa diumano'y tiyak na pagsamba ng lipunan sa mga matipuno, walang kulubot at ubang kabataan. Ganito man ang inaakala at inaasahang pangunahing dahilan sa paglikha ng mga obrang ito, naglalantad pa rin ang pelikula ng mga kahulugan at pagbasa ukol sa kabataan. Kinakitaan ito ng mga kontemporaryong larawan kundi man ng pagbabago o di pagbabago sa halagahan ng lipunang Pilipino. Moderno ang lengguwahe ng mga kabataan sa pelikulang ito na siyang nagpapahayag ng kanilang reyalidad. Maging ang kanilang pagbibihis ay umaagapay sa subkulturang nagtuturing sa moda bilang pasaporte sa paglahok sa mga gawain ng partikular na grupong nais kabilangan. Bago matapos ang pelikula, mapapatay si Luga gawa ng pananambang ng mga kasamahan ng katunggaling grupo. Ganoon din naman si Caloy, mapapaslang ito upang mapaghigantihan ang ang umutas sa buhay ni Luga. Sinubok ng Bilibid Boys na kumawala sa lumang etikang nakabatay sa pagsasalarawan at pag-unawa sa mga kabataan. Naroon pa rin ang paniniwalang wala silang muwang sa pagharap sa hamon ng lipunan ngunit sa dakong huli'y nabigyan din ng pagkakataong magpasiya upang matagpuan ang lagay sa lipunang patuloy na nagbabago.

Whiz Kids TV Show Opening Video

A companion to Cartoon TV Rama, TV Times Television Greats features the best tv programs that span three decades. Watch opening sequences and famous scenes from your favorite '60s, '70s, and '80s tv shows!

Whiz Kids (1983)

The "Whiz Kids" were Richie Adler, Todd Porter, Jeremy Saldino, and Alice Tyler. They would solve mysteries with the help of Richie's computer system called RALF. Farley (Max Gail) was their mentor. Other characters included Richie's sister Cheryl and Lt. Neal Quinn.

Richie Adler lived with his mother and sister - his father worked away from home. Periodically, Richie's father would send him obsolete pieces of electronic and computer equipment including in one episode, a programmable robot called Herman. Richie collected these pieces of equipment from his father and connected them together to form "RALF" - his pet name for his computer system which included, in one episode, a primitive webcam.

The show was based on Richie and his friends coming across mysteries which they (mainly Richie) would attempt to solve using his computer skills with RALF's power. Guidance was provided by Farley (their mentor).

Ghost town NYC

I'm up pretty early today making a list of things to do. Here I am walking around my flat while trying to think if I'm missing anything to add to this growing task list. I enjoy this time of year. Most people have left the city to visit their families, and NYC looks like a ghost town. Well, not literally but there are noticeably fewer people on the streets than usual. I find it to be the best time to walk around and really enjoy this rare occasion, when the streets aren't filled with people. It's funny to think that in a few hours, the general populace of America will be stuffing themselves. Just like they stuffed their turkeys the night before. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
