Choose Your Own Adventure book of the week!

Nagsimula ang Choose Your Own Adventure book series noong 1979. First developed and written by Edward packard. Help!... It's The Hair Bear Bunch (1971)

Help! It's the Hair Bear Bunch! was a Saturday morning cartoon, produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1971. The series depicted three fun-loving hippie bears, the Afroed Hair Bear (voiced by Daws Butler), Bubi Bear (Paul Winchell), and Square Bear (Bill Callaway), who always find a way to escape the Wonderland Zoo and go out on adventures. Trying to stop them are the head zoo-keeper, Mr. Eustace P. Peevly (John Stephenson), and his hopelessly inadequate assistant Lionel J. Botch (Joe E. Ross). The bears also have an invisible motorcycle, which Square Bear can call upon when necessary.

Our House - Madness 80's Music Video

Our House - Madness
"Our house, in the middle of the street."

The band's first 20 singles all made it into the UK top 20, as the band's self-described "nutty sound" evolved to include polished pop elements along with large doses of ska, reggae, and other Caribbean music. The band only had one UK no.1 single in the shape of "House of Fun" in 1982 and narrowly missed the top spot in 1983 with the single "Wings of a Dove". They had limited success in the US, however, with only two singles making the top 40 ("Our House" peaked at #7 and "It Must Be Love" hit #33). This was perhaps a result of their quirky style, and the limited marketplace for ska in the US – although the band still had a strong underground following there, and also were a popular staple of early MTV.

Dino Manalo Boracay Photo '80s

Time is frozen in a single frame of film. Every bit of detail is perfectly captured by the camera lens. These photos take us back to those wonderful days when everything seemed so fresh and new, those days we wished would last forever. Relive those special moments in your life, and share your memories with Photo Nostalgia!

That's my brother TJ on the left, I'm the kid on the far right. The rest of the kids are my cousins. The one wearing red is my mom and on the left is my grandpa. The other women in the photo are my aunties.

Boracay in the early 80's. Back then there were only a few nipa house cottages here and there in the island. There was no electricity and we only depended on gas lamps at night time. And during the night you could hear curious insect sounds as well as sounds that my grandparents would attribute to the "aswang". Boracay was known then as a "virgin island" since at that time there were only a handful of people who knew about the island and most of them were from Aklan. I remember the first time I set foot on the island, I just marveled at the sand. It was white as snow! And the water itself was clear as tap water that I could see the fishes right through it! Well..that was the 80's. Now, whenever I hear somebody exclaim how beautiful Boracay is I can only reminisce and say to myself…the Boracay I know is now long gone... buried under commercialization.

Thanks & More Power!
Dino L.Z. Manalo, M.D., R.N.

Many thanks to our friend Dino Manalo who shared this photo with us.

Share your memories with our readers! Send your old photos to: nostalgiamanilamail[at]yahoo[dot]com and we'll feature it here on Photo Nostalgia.

New Year's Day - U2 80's Music Video

Marami kang nadiskubreng mga banda at music artists na may kanyakanyang mga hits, porma, at siyempre, music videos! New Year's Day - U2
"Nothing changes on New Year's Day."

In 1983, U2 returned with a newfound sense of direction and the release of their third album, War. The album's first single, "New Year's Day", was U2's first international hit, reaching the #10 position on the UK charts and nearly cracking the Top 50 on the US charts. MTV put the "New Year's Day" video, directed by Meiert Avis, into heavy rotation, which immediately launched U2 to the mass American audience. For the first time, the band began performing to sold-out concerts in mainland Europe and the U.S. on their subsequent War Tour. The image of Bono waving a white flag during performances of "Sunday Bloody Sunday" became a familiar sight. U2 recorded the Under a Blood Red Sky EP on this tour and a live video was also released, both of which received radio and MTV play and helped expand the band's audience.

HOTEL CALIFORNIA
Artist: The Eagles

Bm F#
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
A E
Warm smell of colitas rising up through the air
G D
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light
Em
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
F#
I had to stop for the night

Bm F#
There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell
A E
And I was thinking to myself this could be heaven or this could be hell
G D
Then she lit up a candle, and she showed me the way
Em F#
There were voices down the corridor, I thought I heard them say

Chorus :

G D
Welcome to the Hotel California.
Em Bm7
Such a lovely place, such a lovely face
G D
(1)Plenty of room at the Hotel California
(2)They livin' it up at the Hotel California
Em F#
(1)Any time of year (any time of year) you can find it here
(2)What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise) bring your alibis

Bm F#
Her mind is Tiffany twisted, she got the Mercedes bends
A E
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys that she calls friends
G D
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat
Em F#
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

Bm F#
So I called up the captain; "Please bring me my wine."
A E
"We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty-nine"
G D
And still those voices are calling from far away
Em F#
Wake you up in the middle of the night, just to hear them say

(Repeat Chorus)

Bm F#
Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice
A E
And she said "We are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
G D
And in the master's chambers, they gathered for the feast
Em F#
They stab it with their steely knives, but they just can't kill the beast

Bm F#
Last thing I remember, I was running for the door
A E
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
G D
"Relax" said the nightman, "We are programmed to receive"
Em F#
"You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"

(Repeat Chorus)
