    Most young people today don't really realize that Manila before the war was one of the most beautiful and progressivley modern cities in Asia, comparabale to the great cities of the world like New York and Paris. The war changed all that. The Japanese razed the city and the Americans bombed it in an effort to drive the japanese out. This is why it's important to have a strong and vigilantly prepared armed forces to defend the nation against would be invaders, because before the war, nobody thought the Japanese could ever muster up the strength to invade and much less occupy the Philippines, especially with the might of the US Military protecting it, but of course, that turned out to be a false assumption.

    for kaye: yeah manila used to have trams! it would be nice if they continued it like what they have in modern day san francisco, california.

    a little trivia: guess what company ran those trams in manila? it was the Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company! Better known today as MERALCO..

    for NM: your site rocks! i've been spending hours browsing it and i still can't get enough of it.. keep it up!
