I remember the first time I listened to a Sony Walkman back in the early 80s, I was floored by the awesome sound coming from such tiny little headphones. The first walkmen came with a demo tape with all kinds of music and sound effects. And it was heavy too! Unlike today's portable devices, which are made mostly of plastic, the first walkmen were made of metal and internally it had relatively big transistors and diodes etc.
