Makati Aerial View Photo 1963

Time is frozen in a single frame of film. Every bit of detail is perfectly captured by the camera lens. These photos take us back to those wonderful days when everything seemed so fresh and new, those days we wished would last forever. Relive those special moments in your life, and share your memories with Photo Nostalgia!

Our friend Dodong sent us this wonderful aerial shot of Makati taken in 1963. As you can see there weren't that many buildings yet, and it was still being developed.

Send your old photos to: nostalgiamanilamail[at]yahoo[dot]com and we'll feature it here on Photo Nostalgia.

Oh, gosh... Dad would have loved this photo. He was one of the pioneers of the Makati Stock Exchange, so Makati was part of our lives even if we live in QC. I recall Dad took us to the first Shakey's along Makati Ave. They even played Chaplin movies then. Then in the mid 70s there was QUAD, then Legaspi and Salcedo Villages slowly mushroomed. Yup, I also remembered staring out of our car window to see the buildings on Ayala with awe. May building code pa ata noon, parang not higher than 12 floors. Was it bec. of the nearby Nielson Tower wherein small aircrafts landed long ago?

  2. Amazing!

I remember in the late 60's when we used to hunt for unobstructed side walls of newly erected buildings in Makati so we can use the wall to play jai-alai!

  4. Looking at pictures of the old Makati makes me smile. I remember how i love looking at our land title and documents which says that our place is not yet Makati, Rizal but Hacienda San Pedro. I wish I could see how Hacienda San Pedro looks like. I have 8 siblings older than me. My older brother and sisters were born in Makati. I was born in Makati in 1962, and like my older brother and sisters, have lived here since then. I hope you can post/publish more photos of the old Makati, Makati in the 1950's to the 1980's. Actually, I miss the old Makati, the old malls, Rizal Theatre, etc. Thanks

That is the corner of Ayala Av & Salcedo st. Bldg on left is the Phil Savings Bank bldg while the one opposite used to house the Comtrust bank branch. This bldg was demolished circa '70's and was a car park for some time
